Today is the day of the big game. You know, the climax of all sporting events. The big one. Aka, the Superbowl. To some, this is the game of the year they have waited for all year long. As I read in a recent post, some will spend $100,000 just to rent a home for a week near the big game. But to me, today holds an even more special meaning.
11 years ago today, my life was forever changed during Superbowl weekend. See, I was ready to go on my merry way out to a bar to watch the game with people I barely knew. But instead my father asked me to join him at some of his friends house to watch the game. At first I didn’t want to go, but after my brother begged me to join him there, I agreed and went over to at the time was just Dick & Beth’s.
When I got there, I noticed immediately that these people were much more than just a couple that had a home for the game. As I spent some time with them during the game I recognized something different. They were special. They were caring, and concerned about my well being even as a complete stranger. What I found that night was a set of Pastors who were different than anything I had experienced before.
Here we are 11 years later and they are still my Pastors. I spend usually 4-5 nights each week around them helping them to touch lives and change them just as mine was that Superbowl Sunday 11 years ago. If there was ever an emergency or something I was in need of, I know I could call them, any time of the day or night and they would come to help. No matter what I may do, say, or how I may act, they still love me and are there to support me and my family.
So tonight, as you prepare for your party, keep in mind that today is much more than just a game. What you do tonight could change someone’s life forever.

I feel the same way. It was a year ago this month that my daughter left for boot camp. I had basically given up because I felt alone and abandoned…I had no one to turn too. Right away she started having problems in boot camp…she was sick and it continued from one illness to another. So I knew that I had to help her…I didn’t know where to go or what to do but I had to do something…So one Sunday I went to Beach Family Worship Center and thats all it took…I knew I had found my church and my church family…Pastor Boyd and Pastor Terrah have been such a blessing in my life…there are many others that I’m grateful to know and to call my friends…Pastor Beth is an amazing person….her strength is evident in her actions…Pastor Button preaches the word of God and it has been such a blessing in my life to be a part of such an awesome family…I love you guys!!!!
